Fairy Freckled Trail Race – 7th July 2024 – Regional Championships

IAN EDWARDS & AIMEE SMITH- NORTH WALES TRAIL RUNNING CHAMPIONS Well done to Ian Edwards who won the North Wales Trail Running Championships at the Llyn Alwen Reservoir. The Fairy Freckled Cow 10.7km/180m race consisting of an anticlockwise loop around the reservoir. The heavy rain forecasted did not materialise during the race itself as the sun came out just in time for the 11:30am start. Despite sustaining a nasty gash to the knee due to a fall in the last mile, Ian was the only competitor under 40 minutes in a time of 39.41 ahead of Tony Wood (Denbigh Harriers) 41.05 and Alun Williams (Meirionnydd RC) 41.08. Congratulations to Aimee Smith (Cheshire Dragons) who won the women’s title in a time of 47.41. (Entries on the day were not eligible for championship medals.) Thank you to Denbigh Harriers for organising a great event and agreeing to host the championships.
