NORTH WALES REGIONAL ATHLETICS COUNCIL
TRACK & FIELD REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Qualification – only affiliated athletes eligible
a) Birth – the athlete having been born in the Region.
b) Residence – the athlete having resided continuously in the Region for a minimum of nine months immediately prior to the event. Residence to include service at a military unit based within the Region. Any athlete claiming eligibility to compete under this qualification must supply documentation details to the Regional Athletics Council in order to be processed before being accepted.
c) An Athlete attending at a School, College or University in the Region. Students qualified under this criterion do not acquire a qualification to compete for the Region in UK inter county competitions.
d) Retention of Residence – an athlete, who has competed for a Region under the residence qualification, retains their Regional eligibility, regardless of residence, until such time as they compete for another Region or county.
e) In addition, the athlete must be registered with Welsh Athletics on the day of the event AND they may not have competed in the championships of, nor represented another Region or County in the competition year.
Entry:
1. Entries must be received at least 14 days in advance of the Championship.
2. Entries to the Championship to close 14 days before the meeting, and the list of entries to be forward to WA for verification.
Age Group Awards:
1. Medals will be awarded in the following categories, subject to UKA rules regarding permitted distances for younger athletes, in all track and field events for both male and female athletes:
• U13, U15, U17, U20 through to the Senior Age Category to be catered for. (No U11 athlete can compete in the U13 Age Category).
• Masters may enter the senior age category and will be awarded medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 35-39 age group and then 10 year age groups from M40.
• All athletes may bring their own equipment for field events (throws). Such implements must be weighed by a qualified official, to confirm that they conform to the appropriate age-specific regulation.
2. No medals will be awarded for Club team performances.
Other matters
1. Allocation of championships:
The location and date for the Indoor and Outdoor Regional Championships will be decided by the T&F sub-committee and reported at the following Regional meeting.
2. Timetable of events:
The programme of events for the day will allow for a total duration of 5-6 hours.
At least three officials will be trained on the “Opentrack System” in order that the Region can create a timetable for each T&F Championship based on entries received.
3. North Wales Under 11 athletes’ Open Medal Meeting:
An open event for athletes aged over 8 and under 11 years of age may be held at a separate venue and date. Different medals to Regional ones and trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall for girls and boys to be awarded.
4. Championship records:
The championship records will be updated after each annual event, with all throws competitions reflecting the appropriate weight of implement for each age-category.
