The penultimate race of the four-match series took place at a rain-soaked Guilden Sutton 10km, and was a three-way contest against Cheshire and Staffs.

GOLDEN SUTTON FOR OUR LADIES

It was a match winning performance for our ladies as our total of 21 points to Cheshire’s 30 and Staffs’ 31, saw them go home with gold medals. Tracy Rogers (Buckley) continued her great run of form placing 2nd overall and second in the I.C. match, in 36:43. Gemma Moore (Eryri) 4th I.C. in 37:31 (p.b.); Rachel Shipley (Abergele) 7th I.C. in 39:16; Caroline Hardie (Buckley) 8th I.C. in 39:25, her debut and a p.b.; Emma Alofs (Cybi) 11th I.C. in 40:04 and Melissa Turnbull (Maldwyn) 14th I.C. in 41:36 (p.b.).

SILVER FOR OUR MEN

In the men’s race, a late withdrawal saw Andrew Bromley added to the team at the last minute. Daniel Kashi (Meirionnydd) was first home for us, taking third overall and 3rd I.C. Next in was teammate Gwion Roberts, who was 4th I.C. in 32:44; David White (Buckley) was 6th I.C. in 33:26; debutant John Davies, another Meirionnydd athlete, was 9th I.C. in 33:58 and Andrew Bromley (Helsby) was 15th I.C. in 35:42. Luke Northall (Wrexham) suffered a hamstring strain and wisely dropped out 5km into the race.

Next Inter County match (Staffs’ home match) is the Flying Fox 10 miles on Sunday 3rd November.
