North Wales Cross Country Championships

7th January 2023 at Wrexham

A big thank you to all the marshalls and volunteers who put on the North Wales Cross Country Championships. The volunteers who marked the course out in the pouring rain; the volunteers who did registration and teas/coffees; the marshalls/timekeepers/recorders on the course; the Referees Dave Gough and Phil Tugwell; club coaches who got their athletes to the start line and two special mentions- Ian Pierce, who presented all the medals and most importantly Dave Peters who not only organised on-line registration for the first time, but organises all the chip timing and ensured we were able to present the medals in record time.

A big thank you to Wrexham AC for hosting the North Wales Championships again; it may not be the most demanding of courses but it is one of the easiest to set up and manage and with the Champs happening just after the Christmas/New Year break it’s helpful. Thank you to all the volunteers, not just on the course but behind the scenes as well. Obviously, this was the first time we have done online registration but it seemed a great success.

Most medals were given out on the day but if you didn’t receive your medal on the day, check with your club first as a number were picked up for people, otherwise come and see me at Colwyn Bay. I’ll have some with me, just in case!!

Teams for the CAU Inter Counties at Loughborough on 11^th March 2023 will be picked over the next few days based on the results above, the Welsh Inter Regions and the North Wales Cross Country League results. Teams will be posted on the North Wales cross-country website and Facebook pages.

The next North Wales Cross Country League(Junior and Senior) will be at Eirias Park (LL29 7SP) on Saturday 21^st January. Junior races start at 10-30am (under 15 Boys) and senior races at 1 pm.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR NORTH WALES CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE NUMBER. If you’ve lost it you will need to let me know AT LEAST 3 DAYS BEFORE HAND and pay for a replacement (£1).
