Report: Cilcain Mountain Race 26th August 2024

Cilcain Mountain Race: 7.4km, 385m, 26th August 2024

Incorporating the Welsh Athletics Senior (short) Inter-Regional Mountain Running Championships & North Wales Regional Championships.

This was also a trial race for selection for the Trofeo Vanoni Relays in Italy.  The race attracted 262 runners and the overall winner was Rhys Jones of Hebog (pictured) in 31.27 with Eden O’Dea (pictured) first woman in a time of 37.44. They are the Welsh Athletics (short) Mountain Running Champions, second male was Gavin Roberts (Calder Valley) in 31.59 and third was Edward Woodhead (Deeside AAC) in 33.06.  Second woman was Beth Rawlinson (Wolverhampton & Bilston) in 37.59 and third was Bethan Logan ( Mynydd Du) in 39.01.

North Wales men with 1,2,3 finishing order as detailed above and North Wales women finishing order of 1,3,5  (Eden O’dea, Suzie Richards and Anna Drinkwater) won the Welsh Athletics Inter-Regional team medals with East Wales taking silver.
